Perceptive Pixel seeks a senior mechanical engineer to join our fast-paced and growing company. We set the standard for product performance and have high expectations for our product design and quality. This position will design and bring into production next-generation hardware products and related equipment and accessories.
Location: Portland, Oregon
Responsibilities
- Develop product concepts, mechanical solutions and design mechanical parts, with an eye toward customer needs and marketing requirements, cost, quality and manufacturability.
- Generate documentation including component and assembly models, drawings, BOM’s, specifications and process instructions.
- Initiate and conduct design reviews for significant design changes and new product introductions.
- Assist in the development of the company’s NPI process.
- Plan, conduct and support design verification testing on modified designs.
- Work with manufacturing to ensure smooth transition of new product to production. Provide input on assembly process, design of tools, fixtures and jigs.
- Find and develop new suppliers, as needed. Manage relevant suppliers during product design phase.
Qualifications
- B.S.M.E. or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three years experience in design of end-user electronic products, with demonstrated high quality work product.
- Excellent proficiency in SolidWorks 2007 or later. Experience in SolidWorks applications, including Circuit Works, Simulation, PDM Works or DriveWorks considered a plus.
- Fluent in MS Office suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Access experience considered a plus.
- Knowledgeable of Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma experience a plus.
- Ability to think & work independently and meet necessary deadlines with appropriate attention to detail.
- Superior analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skills; creative thinking and ability to “think on your feet”
- Effective, professional-level interaction and communications with management, employees, customers and colleagues.
- Ability to travel domestically and, occasionally, international locations
