Robert H. (Bo) Ewald, Chairman of the Board
Bo Ewald has over 25 years experience in technology with several of the most respected companies in the industry. From 2007-2009 he was CEO of Silicon Graphics, Inc. (SGI). Previously he held CEO positions at Linux Networx, one of the early privately held companies focused on clustered Linux supercomputing; Scale Eight, Inc., a high performance clustered network storage company; e-Stamp, the first Internet postage company which he took public. He also served as president of Ceridian's Human Resource Solutions business.
Earlier in his career, Bo served as chief operating officer of Silicon Graphics, and president and chief operating officer of Cray Research, Inc. His technical achievements include pioneering computer graphics applications and software development projects on the first Cray system ever built.
Bo is involved in various industry organizations and was appointed to the President's Information Technology Advisory Committee from 1997 to 2001. He has served on the boards of several public companies including Silicon Graphics, Cray Research and Ceridian (formerly Control Data Corporation) and private companies including E-Stamp, Scale8 and Linux Networx.
Bo earned degrees in engineering from the University of Colorado and the University of Nevada.
David Bohrman, Current TV
David Bohrman is president of Current TV and returns to the Perceptive Pixel board.
Prior to joining Current TV in August 2011, David was CNN’s SVP and chief innovation officer worldwide. He also served as CNN’s senior vice president of programming and Washington bureau chief. David is known for combining news programming expertise, keen technical acumen and a penchant for innovation to capture some of the world’s most profound and important events on television. His career has spanned three decades and has included producer and executive jobs at CNN, NBC News and ABCNews.
David’s award-winning television programming includes producing coverage of Presidential elections, political conventions, and Presidential debates. He is widely known for producing CNN's award-winning coverage of the 2008 election year and introducing Perceptive Pixel’s “magic wall” to the world.
David earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Science from Stanford University. He also earned a Masters of Science degree in Journalism from Columbia University.
Jeff Han, Founder and Chief Technology Officer
Jeff Han is the founder and chief technology officer of Perceptive Pixel. Jeff is credited for dramatically introducing multi-touch to the mainstream through his demo at the TED conference (2006). The publication of his techniques has led to a resurgence of research and practice in the field.
Jeff’s work has traditionally encompassed the fields of computer graphics and multimedia systems, but is now refocused towards machine learning and HCI (human-computer interaction). Jeff has built Perceptive Pixel into a successful, profitable and rapidly growing business working with top-tier partners in such industries as government, defense/intelligence, media & entertainment, energy/oil & gas and higher education.
Among other honors, Jeff was named to the Time 100 Most Influential Persons list in 2008. He continues to contribute frequently to research communities and publications.
Jeff was formally trained in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Cornell University, where he worked on the innovative CU-SeeMe videoconferencing system.
Bob Pette, Chief Operating Officer and Interm Chief Executive Officer
Bob joined Perceptive Pixel Inc. from NVIDIA Corporation, where he was vice president, global solutions, responsible for building a team of solution specialists that showcased NVIDIA’s visual computing technologies for the Quadro and Tesla brands. Before NVIDIA, Bob spent 21 years at Silicon Graphics where he held positions in systems engineering; visualization hardware and software product development; application and customer benchmarking; customer services; operations; and corporate marketing.
Bob received his Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech and his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Tampa.
Paul Steece, 3M
Paul Steece began his career at 3M in 1977 in the Copying Products Division in New Ulm, Minnesota as a process engineer. He went on to become a manufacturing engineering manager in the Hardgoods Technology Center in 1983 and held several manufacturing leadership roles, including group manufacturing manager for the Electrical Products Group in Brussels, Belgium, and manufacturing director of the Electrical Products Division in Austin.
Paul became the managing director of 3M Mexico in 2001, and returned to Austin in 2003 to rejoin the Electrical Products Division as the vice president before taking the helm of the Electrical Markets Division.
As vice president and general manager of 3M’s Electrical Markets Division, Paul leads a team based in Austin, Texas that provides practical, scalable solutions in the electrical markets around the world, from electrical construction and industrial maintenance to utility and industrial power, all the way to the component level.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota.
Mark Breier, Board Observer
Mark is a partner at IQT and is an observer on the Perceptive Pixel board. Mark's prior experience includes serving as a technology executive at Amazon.com, Plantronics and Beyond.com and 10 years in packaged goods marketing at General Mills, Kraft Foods and Dreyer’s/Edy’s Ice Cream. He is popular author and public speaker and authored a best-selling book "The 10-Second Internet Manager."
Mark has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Stanford University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Tobias Jahn, Board Observer
Tobias is an investment manager at 3M New Ventures and invests in early stage companies mainly in the areas of electronics, communication, IT & media, UI technology, energy management and automotive.
Prior to 3M he worked for BMW in multiple divisions including research, electronic development and innovation management in Munich and Palo Alto. Prior to BMW, he worked as an IT consultant. During his PhD, he developed efficient management methods for large innovation project portfolios in conjunction with project maturity management.
Tobias has a Bachelor and Master degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from the Technical University of Munich and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Stuttgart.
Rob Rueckert, Board Observer
Rob is a director at Intel Capital and invests in cloud, collaboration and mobile companies. Rob’s current investments include Joyent, Kabam, Betaworks, Perceptive Pixel, Adaptive Computing, Layar, Telligent, BuzzMedia, XFire, mFoundry, Telebrahma, IndiaMart and Iovation. Rob’s prior investments include Accertify (acquired by American Express), Jajah (acquired by Telefonica), TobeSoft (IPO), Financial Engines (IPO), Datallegro (acquired by Microsoft), Arch Rock (acquired by Cisco), Holdfast (acquired by Shanda) and InSync (acquired by RFID Invest). Prior to Intel Capital, Rob spent 10 years in the software industry, 5 years as an engineer and CTO and an additional 5 years as a software consultant with Arthur Andersen.
Rob has a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Brigham Young University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
